D: Robert Eggers (The Witch).
S: Willem Dafoe, Robert Pattinson, Valeriia Karaman.
Technically, in total command. However, the story and dénouement underwhelm. Madness and isolation has been done far better, e.g. THE SHINING and THE OTHERS. And for a closer, superior film, check out HOW I ENDED THIS SUMMER.

S: Henry Golding, Parker Sawyers, David Tran, Molly Harris.
Unhurried rumination on a myriad of topics, coupled with a quietly engaging travelogue of Vietnam. The film is visually arresting without being ostentatious. At 85 minutes, it’s too short, which is also a compliment.
