I was in the media seats for the Paralympics Opening Ceremony; I could get used to that!  One of the most beautiful-looking modern films is a bargainous 4 squid on Blu-ray from Fopp.  
The Bug music video night has set the standard so high, that it's bi-monthly show must be completely top-notch now to avoid mild disappointment. On Thursday only two videos stood out; and for the first time the body of work of the directors (thirtytwo), chosen to be interviewed on stage, is, whisper, not very good. Having said that, it is still a cracking night!  Contemporary dancer Akram Khan, who wowed at the Olympics Opening Ceremony, has a behind-the-scenes DVD of his latest solo show, HOMELAND. A FEW BEST MEN is an alleged “comedy” out this Friday. It’s a very long time before a laugh is squeezed out of me.
