GHOST IN THE SHELL [2017] ★☆☆☆☆ D: Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman). S: Scarlett Johansson, Takeshi Kitano, Michael Pitt, Juliette Binoche, Pilou Asbæk. Unsatisfactory on so many levels. A botched adaptation of an animé landmark.   I love bonkers sci-fi. Will this hit the sweet spot? SPIDER-MAN 2 is the benchmark for the franchise. Can this best it? PEEP SHOW [seasons 1-9] ★★★★★ Excruciating hilarity. A winning formula of misanthropy. No quarter given to sentimentality.  THE PARTY ★½☆☆☆ D: Sally Potter (Ginger & Rosa, Rage, Yes, Orlando). S: Patricia Clarkson, Bruno Ganz, Cherry Jones, Emily Mortimer, Cillian Murphy, Kristin Scott Thomas, Timothy Spall. Bar Patricia Clarkson's choice put-downs, this is woeful.
