Anticlimactic spider horror flick. Extraterrestrial arachnid starts targeting denizens of a New York apartment. Pretty inept and unsatisfying. Spoiler: Why do only Caucasians make it to the end? TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN ★★½☆☆
Part martial arts flick, soap opera, fantasy, and social commentary; doing none of those elements justice. A disappointment from Soi Cheang, director of SPL2 and MOTORWAY. FURIOSA ★★★☆☆
After the initial gut-punch, the more I think about this the less I like it. Shares the sadism and horror of the first MAD MAX. A different beast to the rest of the franchise. The plot lacks smarts. Some monumental, elaborate vehicular pursuit, but overall surprisingly forgettable. HIGH MAINTENANCE [seasons 1-4] ★★★★☆
Such an unusually winsome show. It is chill and socially conscious. An observation of New York residents, connected by a gentle weed dealer. The comedy and drama are handled with a deft touch, efficiently conveying much in episodes rarely lasting more than 30 minutes. THE FALL GUY ★★★☆☆
An endearing romance wrapped in a comedy about movie-making. Lacks punch, but is unabashedly scathing about certain elements of the film industry. David Leitch is an underwhelming director, with only one top-notch flick: ATOMIC BLONDE. |
