In London? You need to see comedy-musical THE BOOK OF MORMON. My review here. By Hemanth Kissoon
Five things I learned about Brian Cox, from his talk at the House of St Barnabas (http://www.hosb.org.uk) this week: 1. He was a Beatles fan over The Stones, who were too rarefied, too London. He can do a comedy Mick Jagger impression. 2. Knew he was at home in the theatre (at Dundee Rep), when - i. He walked in on a fight taking place among the players as a result of an all-nighter, and ii. Everyone called him “darling”. 3. There is a rumour circulating that Brian Cox was in THE PRISONER television show. He squashed that, he wasn’t, though admires Patrick McGoohan. 4. Cox has played both Stalin and Trotsky, and is the only Scottish actor to be in both BRAVEHEART and ROB ROY. 5. Of acting, Brian says that it is about totality. You are always coming from somewhere, and heading somewhere. It is not about the length of the part. Danny Boyle's latest, TRANCE, is his first work post the London Olympics opening ceremony.
My take on it: http://www.filmaluation.com/trance.html COMPLIANCE is out today.
It’s been five years since writer-director Craig Zobel debuted with scam artist flick GREAT WORLD OF SOUND. My review here. Had an amazing moment last night: Acting great Brian Cox looking at himself playing Hannibal Lecter in MANHUNTER on a plasma TV in a chapel, while talking about his career.
Director Joshua Oppenheimer introducing his film at the Human Rights Watch Film Festival.
THE ACT OF KILLING ★★★★★ Astounds on multi levels: political, humanistic, psychological & meta cinema. 2013 has a new bar. What is such an illustrious cast, from seasoned vets to hot properties, doing in this mess?

See the drop down to the right of the Home tab. Enjoy. The vital ambitions of art and entertainment: - Perceptiveness - Illumination - The unexpected - Innovation Brains and soul are key; but adrenaline junkies do not fret, there is also much love for an experience that delivers a sucker-punch to the guts via stunningly delivered thrills. Noun, “filmaluation”: The evaluation of a film Verb, "to filmaluate”: To evaluate a film I am well aware how difficult it is to make a film, put on a stage play, create a television show, write a novel, let alone make something of note. (That appreciation doesn’t stop me from having high standards though.) This online magazine is edited by Hemanth Kissoon. Filmaluation is owned by Filmaluation Limited (Company number 8549302.
