CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON: SWORD OF DESTINY ★☆☆☆☆
The original is still in my top 10 of all time. The sequel is lazy, nonsensical, pointless. A shadow of predecessor. Leaden story, wooden dialogue. Rebecca Ferguson is an exciting cinema presence. Hopefully she builds on her ROGUE NATION performance. Director Derek Cianfrance didn’t put a foot wrong with BLUE VALENTINE and THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES. Meryl Streep has teamed up with director Stephen Frears. Disney are going through their back catalogue at the moment. CINDERELLA last year, and THE JUNGLE BOOK in 2016. BEAUTY AND THE BEAST in 2017. Lucrative? Probably. Creatively worthwhile? |

Noun, “filmaluation”: The evaluation of a film Verb, "to filmaluate”: To evaluate a film I am well aware how difficult it is to make a film, put on a stage play, create a television show, write a novel, let alone make something of note.
