Prequel to ROGUE ONE. The most intelligent and most urgent thing Star Wars has done. An utterly gripping dissection of authoritarianism and the cost of rebellion. Prestige television disguised as blockbuster sci-fi. Only quibble is the flat direction. Stellan Skarsgård steals every scene he’s in, delivering mesmerising monologues.

D: Luca Guadagnino (Call Me by Your Name, A Bigger Splash, I Am Love). S: Taylor Russell, Timothée Chalamet, Mark Rylance, Michael Stuhlbarg, David Gordon Green, André Holland, Chloë Sevigny. What a skilful, unusual cinema experience. A film that is both romantic and vomit-inducing. Emotional yet chilling. A cannibal love story road movie. Mark Rylance delivers one of the most unnerving performances I have ever seen. One of the best horror movies of 2022. My review: http://www.filmaluation.com/bones-and-all.html WEIRD: THE AL YANKOVIC STORY ★★★★☆
D: Eric Appel. S: Daniel Radcliffe, Evan Rachel Wood, Rainn Wilson, Arturo Castro, Julianne Nicholson, Will Forte, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Toby Huss, Weird Al Yankovic, Spencer Treat Clark, Patton Oswalt, Jorma Taccone, Michael McKean, David Dastmalchian, Conan O'Brien, Jack Black. A hilarious comedy biopic spoof, skewering in particular the slew of movie music biogs. Wall-to-wall cameos. It has the relentless energy of an action movie.
