"You and me, but mostly me, is going to change the world," Kevin Price The SOUTH PARK/TEAM AMERICA boys have nailed the West End musical. At a fan performance on Monday 25th February, kicking off the London run, Trey Parker (co-director, book, music, lyrics) introduced the creative team: - Robert Lopez (book, music, lyrics), - Matt Stone (book, music, lyrics), and - Casey Nicholaw (co-director and choreographer). I even got to say congratulations to Messrs Nicholaw and Lopez, who were among the audience. The former was scribbling notes in front of me throughout, and zoomed off immediately at the interval – I guess a perfectionist. The audience included, at one of the biggest theatreland events of 2013, director Edgar Wright (SPACED, SHAUN OF THE DEAD, SCOTT PILGRIM) and actor Peter Serafinowicz (THE PHANTOM MENACE, LOOK AROUND YOU). The buzz was massive. Some people queued over night for tickets! THE BOOK OF MORMON is musical satire utterly nailed. Hilarious, coruscating and joyous. The commencement of PRINCE AVALANCHE swells my heart, as I question, could David Gordon Green fuse his humorous and sensitive sides? My review: http://www.filmaluation.com/prince-avalanche.html Director David Gordon Green (PINEAPPLE EXPRESS, ALL THE REAL GIRLS) at the press conference with actors Emile Hirsch and Paul Rudd.
“Stay within the family kill circle,” Ugga (Catherine Keener)
New animated e-number THE CROODS is out next month. My take on it here. Writer-director Reha Erdem doesn’t make it easy for his audience, and why should he?
My review of JÎN: http://www.filmaluation.com/jin.html CLOUD ATLAS ★★★★ Exemplary adaptation of extraordinary novel. Only misfire is choosing love over politics as the focus.
Was there a connection between us at the press conference? Emma Stone (THE HELP, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN), with some guy called Nicolas Cage.

Noun, “filmaluation”: The evaluation of a film Verb, "to filmaluate”: To evaluate a film I am well aware how difficult it is to make a film, put on a stage play, create a television show, write a novel, let alone make something of note.
