Stephen King’s eight book sci-fi fantasy Western, 4250 page epic, is often exhilarating and imaginative, yet a repeatedly frustrating read. I’m torn by the climax: Was it botched, or is it a bold nightmare?

(The film is dire, except the casting of Idris and McConaughey.)

COLOR OUT OF SPACE ★☆☆☆☆
D: Richard Stanley (The Island of Dr. Moreau).
S: Nicolas Cage, Joely Richardson, Madeleine Arthur, Elliot Knight, Q'orianka Kilcher, Tommy Chong.

Tired horror gubbins. Is this meant to be a pastiche? Anyhow, it's an annoying experience. Nic Cage's brand of acting causes a few chortles.

The Climb - film review

THE CLIMB ★★★★☆
D: Michael Angelo Covino.
S: Michael Angelo Covino, Kyle Marvin, Gayle Rankin, Judith Godrèche, Talia Balsam, Todd Barry, George Wendt.

What a comedy! The camerawork is unbelievable. The scene orchestration is sublime. Avoids the usual bromance formula, for something colder and less mawkish.
