"Festival Artistic Director Sandra Hebron announced today that the 55th BFI London Film Festival will take place from Wednesday 12 October until Thursday 27 October 2011.
The highly regarded BFI London Film Festival champions creativity, originality, vision and imagination by annually showcasing feature films, documentaries, shorts, animation and artists’ film and video, attracting leading international filmmakers, industry professionals and the media, together with large public audiences for a two week showcase of the best in contemporary world cinema.
Much anticipated within Europe’s cultural calendar, last year’s Festival hosted 201 feature films and 112 short films from 68 countries including 67 World, International and European premieres. There were 530 screenings and 529 participating filmmakers, drawing the highest ever audience attendance of 132,000. The Festival opened with the European Premiere of NEVER LET ME GO and closed with the European Premiere of 127 HOURS, and included the much lauded BLACK SWAN, THE KING’S SPEECH, BLUE VALENTINE and ANOTHER YEAR.
The BFI London Film Festival is now accepting submissions for 2011 and the full programme will be announced in September.
