Squanders the potential of season one. Convoluted, repetitive, nonsensical. The amount of times various characters enter the same locations, reel off some exposition, and depart, verges on the laughable. Am not sure I have the patience to see how this concludes.
DARK [season two] ★★½☆☆
Squanders the potential of season one. Convoluted, repetitive, nonsensical. The amount of times various characters enter the same locations, reel off some exposition, and depart, verges on the laughable. Am not sure I have the patience to see how this concludes. BIG LITTLE LIES [season two] ★★★★☆
This does not feel like a vision from director Andrea Arnold. A shame. However, this is edge of your seat drama. Meryl Streep eviscerates everyone she shares a scene with. There is no need for another season. BLACK MONDAY [season one] ★★★☆☆
Filled with one-liners and rat-a-tat dialogue, but no real analysis of Wall Street, high finance, or the stock market crash of 1987. There is so much energy, but it does not seem to know where to channel it. It feels like a long time since Kevin Smith directed a good movie. DOGMA [1999]? On this day actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was born. His top 5 films:
- A MOST WANTED MAN - BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU’RE DEAD - BOOGIE NIGHTS - MONEYBALL - THE BIG LEBOWSKI It is actor Willem Dafoe’s birthday. His top 5 films:
- A MOST WANTED MAN - EXISTENZ - PLATOON - SPIDER-MAN 2 - THE FLORIDA PROJECT Tom Hooper is not a good film director. This looks both hilariously bad and hauntingly nightmarish. At least we're perhaps a step closer to a THUNDERCATS movie (or maybe a step back)? It is cinematographer Matthew Libatique’s birthday. His top 5 films:
- CHI-RAQ - MOTHER! - PI - REQUIEM FOR A DREAM - THE FOUNTAIN |
