At the press conference yesterday for AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON -
Director Joss Whedon, Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson), Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and The Vision (Paul Bettany). AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON ★★★☆☆
A significant disappointment after the huge highs of the previous instalment. My review: http://www.filmaluation.com/avengers-age-of-ultron.html Out to own today: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
Big Eyes
Matthew McConaughey crying through the STAR WARS trailer was exactly how I reacted, except my response was more emotionally intense. Dread and disquiet, usually reserved for horror films, are employed to startling effect in a septuagenarian relationship drama.
My review of 45 YEARS: http://www.filmaluation.com/45-years.html A long weekend of domestic recriminations.
My review of South Korean family drama END OF WINTER: http://www.filmaluation.com/end-of-winter.html Getting mixed feelings from the teaser trailer. A myriad of voices - is it a precursor for a messy, overly stuffed outing? DAREDEVIL [season one] ★★★★☆
'Serpico' meets 'Darkman'. Head and shoulders above the superhero dross currently on TV. Has cinematic verve. We really do not need another comic book origin story, but if you're going to do one, this is how to do it - with panache and patience. |

Noun, “filmaluation”: The evaluation of a film Verb, "to filmaluate”: To evaluate a film I am well aware how difficult it is to make a film, put on a stage play, create a television show, write a novel, let alone make something of note.
