POWER ★★★★★ The best documentary of the year so far. An extraordinary examination of the history of police in America. A cogent and compelling film.
A FAMILY AFFAIR ★☆☆☆☆ What’s Nicole Kidman doing in this generic, formulaic waste of time? THE IRON CLAW showed how capable an actor Zac Efron can be; why does he keep churning out these duff (rom-)comedies? You know a movie is deeply substandard when there are conversation montages where you don’t hear the words.  BORDERLANDS ★½☆☆☆ An intergalactic blockbuster heist flick should’ve been a gonzo delight. This sci-fi action-comedy is devoid of coherent world-building, thrills, and amusement. The climax is witless.  |
