A secret hospital for baddies. Could this be JOHN WICK-parallel-world good? The film and volume one are ace. The trailer for vol. 2: BEAST ★★★★☆
D: Michael Pearce. S: Jessie Buckley, Johnny Flynn, Geraldine James, Trystan Gravelle. The film squeezes your guts and doesn't let go. The aftermath of bullying and its repercussions. In the same league as LADY MACBETH and SOUTHCLIFFE. What British cinema and television should do more of: Uncompromising examinations into the dark heart of human beings. A film about the 1992 Los Angeles riots, starring Halle Berry and Daniel Craig and from the director of MUSTANG, on paper appeared to be a doozy. The end result is disappointing. My review: http://www.filmaluation.com/kings.html The trailer: It might have been a gothic, meta film about a gothic writer. Instead, nearly a runtime’s worth of misery before FRANKENSTEIN is written. Is far too monotone. I am willing INCREDIBLES 2 to be as ace as the original, and not pointless like FINDING DORY. TOM AND JERRY-style slapstick can be funny, but this trailer is devoid of laughs. Eli Roth has not directed a single good film. Will teaming with Cate Blanchett change this? From the director of GIRLS TRIP. Comedian Tiffany Haddish is on fire right now. FUNNY COW ★☆☆☆☆
D: Adrian Shergold. S: Maxine Peake, Stephen Graham, Paddy Considine, Alun Armstrong, Tony Pitts, Christine Bottomley, Kevin Eldon, Lindsey Coulson, John Bishop, Diane Morgan. An arduous stand-up drama that feels like a leaden biopic. What's up with the race-related so-called jokes? My review: http://www.filmaluation.com/funny-cow.html |

Noun, “filmaluation”: The evaluation of a film Verb, "to filmaluate”: To evaluate a film I am well aware how difficult it is to make a film, put on a stage play, create a television show, write a novel, let alone make something of note.
